Description of Incident: A pet AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD "Jake" was accepted for transport in Honolulu, HI (HNL) with a transfer in Los Angeles, CA (LAX) destined for Atlanta, GA (ATL). The canine was accepted in apparent good health with all required documentation present. After acceptance Jake was transported to the aircraft in HNL and loaded without incident. Upon arrival in Los Angeles, CA during transit Jake chewed his way out of his kennel and was recovered by local ground operations staff. Jake appeared to be limping which prompted a Veterinary evaluation. Jake was treated for a fracture to his leg and minor abrasions.

Cause of Incident: Self-inflicted injuries
