Brief Description of Incident: Flight DL75 from Amsterdam (AMS) arrived in Atlanta (ATL) at 1635 local time, and one of two cats traveling in separate kennels was found unresponsive in her kennel during offloading of the Cargo Bulk bin. The animal was sent down to the Animal room in the F Concourse- Arrivals. Customs was notified. They called the CDC, and a CDC officer was sent to the Animal room. Separately, a Delta ramp agent and supervisor met with and communicated the death to the owner. After the CDC officer evaluated the expired animal and interviewed the owner, the animal was released to the owner.

Description of the Cause of Incident: Unknown, no necropsy (autopsy) was authorized by the owner and the CDC did not identify the cause of death. Proper procedures were taken: The Animal was placed in the correct cargo bin, the flight crew was notified and followed proper procedures.

Description of Corrective Action Taken (if any): No corrective actions were taken.
