On Delta Airline flight 2312 from Los Angles, CA to Salt Lake City, UT a young rabbit named Ashes was found deceased upon arrival in Salt Lake City. The cause of the incident is not known, the airline reported that it had been handled properly. An examination by a veterinary thought the death was likely caused by stress. The incident happened on January 4, 2013, no preventative measures were taken.

On Alaska Airline Flight 19 from Orlando, FL to Seattle, WA a three year old bull dog named Otis was found deceased upon arrival in Seattle. The airline reported that the dog sustained no outside injuries, thus the cause of the incident is unknown. Alaska Airlines reports no mishandling on their part. The incident happened on January 13, 2013, no preventative measures were taken.
